Taiwan temporarily allows Chinese corn
The Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs said it has
temporarily lifted a ban on corn imports used as animal feed from mainland China
to meet demand.
The ban, previously imposed as a measure to contain inflation, was lifted
from Oct 1, 2007 but imports of China-made corn feed will be allowed only until
March 31, 2008, according to a statement of the ministry.
Other measures
in place to curb inflation included a demand for government-owned industries to
scale down their exports of raw materials.
The government has said it
will seek measures to meet domestic demand for raw
materials.
