Global vitamins market under pressure – vitamin E price decline accelerates

The global vitamins market, led by continued declines in Vitamin E, remains under downward pricing pressure due to stable supply, cautious demand, and aggressive competition – particularly from China. Despite ongoing plant maintenance and the recent lifting of force majeures, these factors have yet to significantly impact supply or slow the overall price erosion. Weak pricing trends persist across most segments.

Over the past week, the pace of price decline has slightly increased compared to previous weeks, although the decrease in the USA remains somewhat behind that of other regions. Meanwhile, in various areas, prices continue to decline gradually, as availability appears steady and buyers are taking a cautious approach. While several manufacturers are conducting summer maintenance at their plants, this has not yet affected the supply chain or inventory levels. A significant portion of the third quarter has already been contracted.

Vitamin A 1000

BASF has removed the force majeure on vitamin A1000, yet no significant changes in the market have been observed thus far. Prices continue to decline gradually, reflecting a satisfactory level of availability, consistent with trends from previous weeks and months. Market participants anticipate that the current weak trend will remain similar in the near future, with no immediate changes expected. A relatively small portion of contracts for Q3 has been secured.

Vitamin D3 500

Overall trends remain consistent with prior weeks, showing no significant fluctuations. While prices FOB China are generally stable, there is a slight downward movement, yet they continue to maintain a relatively elevated level. In other regions, pricing remains mostly steady to slightly weak, and supply seems still limited. The third quarter is largely secured in terms of contracts.

D-Calpan

Prices remain mostly stable in both China and the USA, while showing slight softness in Europe due to the stronger euro against the dollar. Overall, there have been no significant fluctuations compared to previous weeks. The third quarter is partially contracted.

Vitamin B3

The continued aggressive pricing strategies of several Chinese suppliers are driving further declines in an already low-priced market, as they focus on increasing volume. Additionally, one manufacturer remains under force majeure due to an incident earlier this year. Third-quarter demand is only partially contracted.
