Cargill opens office in Bulgaria

30-01-2007 | |

Cargill has opened a grain and oilseed trading office in Sofia, Bulgaria. Its trading trading activities in Bulgaria would focus principally on exporting wheat, maize, sunflowerseed, barley and rapeseed.

“The office will enable us to grow our business in a
region where a local presence is increasingly important,” said Stoyan Stoyanov,
general manager of the new Cargill office. “Cargill already has a strong
presence elsewhere in the Black Sea region that will be complemented by our
Bulgarian operations. We will create real value and opportunities for customers
by opening up markets for Bulgarian grains and oilseeds produced here in the
rest of the world.”

With a population of 7.5 million, Bulgaria in 2006
harvested 3.2 million tonnes of wheat, 1.4 million tonnes of maize and 515,000
tonnes of barley.
