Gene jockeys fight fusarium head

As long as grains are grown the fungi of the fusarium family lie in ambush to attack the kernels when conditions are right and there is very little a farmer can do to prevent fusarium infection. But now modern genetic research shows promising results in altering the plants defence system to repel a fungal attack.
