DSM Nutritional Products has announce the completion of its fifth feed premix plant in China. Located in the city of Chengdu, the capital of the province of Sichuan, the new plant has the biggest capacity of all DSM’s feed premix plants in China.

The Chengdu plant marks the start of DSM’s development plan in West China and further strengthens the company’s overall strategy for the animal premix and feed market in China. DSM already operates four feed premix plants in Shanghai, Shandong Province, Hunan Province and Jilin Province.

In November 2010, DSM Nutritional Products signed an investment contract with Chengdu Modern Industrial Port to set up the new plant and established DSM Vitamins (Sichuan) Limited. The Chengdu plant, which was built in less than 10 months, has three complete production lines for all product types: macro premixes and vitamin concentrates marketed under the Rovimix® brand. The capacity of the plant is designed to respond to the fast increasing consumer demand. It is carefully built to prevent cross-contamination between active ingredients and non-active ingredients and can provide fully traceable production of poultry, swine, aquaculture, ruminant and petfood premixes.

“The completion of our fifth premix plant in China further strengthens DSM’s leading role in the rapidly evolving Chinese animal nutrition & health industry,” said Nathan Bird, Vice President DSM Nutritional Products China. "As an essential link in the food chain, premix has a key role to play in food safety and nutrition. DSM applies highest manufacturing, safety and environment (OVN – Optimal Vitamin Nutrition) standard to provide reliable, high-quality and innovative products to our customers. Our efforts are helping to speed up the sustainable development of the animal nutrition & health industry in China. ”

Dr. Weiming Jiang,President DSM China, commented: "The opening of DSM’s fifth feed premix plant in China gives me great pride. We have further optimized our premix network in this country and successfully grasped a market opportunity in China’s fast-growing animal nutrition & health industry. This investment shows DSM’s great commitment to China, one of the world’s high-growth economies. It also fully fits with our 2015 strategy, ‘DSM in Motion: driving focused growth’.”
