The famous Lalu brand goes global. Cattle feed “Lalu Pashu Aahar,” named after Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, is set to be exported to Europe.

“We are ready to export cattle feed Lalu Pashu Aahar to European countries as
there is a big market,” said Satish Singh, owner of Prakash Agro Industries,
manufacturer of the product.

“While a 50 kg bag of cattle feed costs Rs
270 ($6.65) in the domestic market, a tonne of Lalu Pashu Aahar would cost $150
for international buyers,” Singh said. “I have already approached the consulates
of different European countries to supply fodder,” he told Hindustan
Times.

Internet marketing
The company has decided to
use the website The Great Indian Bazaar to tap the global market for its cattle
feed.

Cashing in on the popularity of the maverick leader (pictured), the
company launched three grades of animal feed under the brand names Lalu Pashu
Aahar, Lalu Bypass and Lalu Super Bypass two years ago in Bihar.

“In the
rural market of Bihar, cattle feed branded after Lalu is doing brisk business,”
Singh said.

The company produces 5,300 to 5,400 tonnes of Lalu Pashu
Aahar a month. “Brand Lalu sells in Bihar’s rural market more than any brand,”
the entrepreneur affirmed.
