Dynamic feeding concept profits dairy farmers

A group Dutch dairy farmers who started the “dynamic feeding” concept from Dutch feed company ForFarmers have increased their profit with €50 per year.

They realised this increase by feeding 2.4kg less concentrates per 100kg milk. On an annual basis this saves 200kg concentrates per dairy cow.

The system calculated the daily concentrate amount per cow by using the milk production, milk yield and concentrate costs data. The advantage of the system is that in times of low milk prices, the concentrate amount can be optimised to a level at which the profit per cow is at its highest.

Since its introduction in September 2008, 100 ForFarmers clients have been adopted the feeding concept.
