BOCM Pauls purchases 22 Volvo FM trucks

One of Britain’s leading feed manufacturers and distributor, BOCM Pauls, has increased its fleet with 22 new Volvo FM trucks.

The new load of trucks consist of fourteen FM 8×4 bulk blowers, two FM 8×2 bulk blowers, two FM 6×4 bulk blowers, three FM 6×2 curtainsiders and an additional FM 8×2 curtainsider to complete the picture.

The 6×2 and 8×2 chassis all have lifting air-suspended rear steering axles to aid access to farms and awkward delivery points and give added traction.

Large fleet
They join a busy fleet of 130 rigids and 50 tractors and trailers of which 55% are Volvo. Fleet and Procurement Manger for BOCM Pauls, Andy Stanfield, said, “The Volvo FM is a suitable vehicle for our operation. Delivering to farms down narrow tracks and over poor terrain, often in bad weather, requires a reliable, robust truck and the FM fits the bill.”

All the new trucks are supplied by WW Truck and Bus Limited of Avonmouth and have been taken on contract hire including repair and maintenance.

With a mix of 330hp, 410hp and 450hp engines and the Volvo I-Shift automated gearbox and, says Andy Stanfield: “With plenty of power on tap, a comfortable cab and the Volvo I-Shift gearbox, they are just what our drivers need to get the job done. They are well looked after.”

The blower and curtainsider bodywork has all been supplied by Priden Engineering of Wisbech and the new vehicles will be operating across the UK distributing BOCM Pauls range of products to their farmer customers.
