Less Kazakhstan wheat exports

Over the last few years Kazakhstan, which typically produces good quality
milling wheat, has been able to meet the import demand of its neighbouring
countries as well as expanding its exports into other areas, including North
Africa.

In 2006 Kazakhstan’s wheat exports totalled around 3.89m tonnes,
rising in 2007 to around 5.97m tonnes. While 2008 exports for the year to July
look to be steadily on track with last year’s figures for the same period, they
are registering a drop of 9.53%.
