Animal nutrition company Alltech is to host a Crop Science seminar on 26 June, 2014 to announce their significant investment into a crop science research programme based at their European Headquarters in Dunboyne, Co. Meath, Ireland.

The seminar will provide interested parties with an opportunity to increase their knowledge on crop production practices, allowing them to see firsthand the research that Alltech Crop Science is currently developing.

The seminar will be chaired by cereal expert and tillage writer for the Irish Farmers Journal, Andy Doyle. Guests will hear insights from renowned cereal production expert and University College Dublin lecturer, Tom McCabe. Teagasc soil and plant nutritional expert, Mark Plunkett will share how to improve and maintain soil fertility. Tim Sheil, the recently appointed Alltech Crop Science agronomist will outline the future research priorities at Alltech Crop Science.

During the 30th Alltech Symposium, May 18-21, Lexington, Kentucky, USA, Robert Walker, Alltech Crop Science general manager, discussed how science can promote crop production and examine how plants could naturally resist disease in the future.

“The theme of this Crop Science seminar is Increasing Farm Productivity –”The Pet Field” Concept. The seminar will delve into the secrets behind growing higher yielding crops and highlight the key differences between high and poor yielding fields. The seminar will also give attendees a flavour of what can be expected from the Alltech Crop Science research programme as it develops into the future, addressing the problems faced by farmers,” said Tim Sheil, Alltech Crop Science agronomist.
